Gratefully not Dead

This time last year, I was in Jordan cooking with my classmates.  I feel strangely nostalgic considering I would do anything to always spend Thanksgiving with my family.

Obligatory introspective list of things I’m thankful for (because this kind of thing is good for us, kids):

- My wonderful family, everywhere. I’m so lucky to have such a tight-knit and supportive family.

- Though I maybe don’t have as many friends as a lot of people, I have the best friends and I’m grateful for that (especially my awesome roommates.  I will probably never be this happy again).

- Josh.  I could write for pages about why I’m grateful for Josh.  I won’t bore you.

-The basics and then some: food, a job, school paid for, a nice home, clean water, heat, a car.

- Wool yarn and bamboo needles (time to really get going on that christmas knitting, bitches)…

-Netflix.  Two reasons here:

1.  Netflix will single handedly get me through holiday knitting season.

2.  Netflix hired one of my nearest and dearest friends back about 7 months ago.   He has medical benefits now for the first time in years and I’m so relieved knowing that he’s at least that much better off.  As well as paying him a more than decent wage.

- Though I’ve had some troubles over the last few years with my health, I am definitely grateful that it’s not worse and I can do my daily activities without too much trouble or pain.

- According to Nicholas Kristof’s column yesterday, we are in a less violent world than in years past.  Things are not perfect or even very good at the moment, but in some way, times are better than before.
